What
is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)? SEO is the abbreviation of Search
Engine Optimization. Search Engine Optimization is a broad
definition for the various methods in which websites can
be created, designed, and maintained with the intention
of being indexed and ranked within search engines and
online directories. It is a part of Website Promotion activity to drive more traffic to a website.
Who
benefits from an optimized website?
Any website representing a company or an organization
is likely to benefit from an effective SEO (Search Engine Optimization) campaign. If
a website has been created and designed without factoring
in the abilities of obtaining high rank listings in search
engines and directories; it needs SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
How much
does Search Engine Optimization (SEO) cost?
An effective SEO (Search Engine Optimization) campaign is only truly effective if it
remains cost-effective with a positive ROI. The prices
for Search Pundits optimization programs are neither published
nor predetermined. Every website and its objectives are
different, and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques are applied accordingly.
Our services cost in the range of $250 and up, depending
on the client's needs, intentions, and most importantly,
their budget.
What are
Keywords? Keywords are words and phrases (also known as keyphrase
or keyword phrase) in which a web surfer enters into various
searching tools in order to find information relating
to such word(s) or phrases. If you go to Google for example,
and search for "car", the keyword you have used
is car. In terms of SEO (Search Engine Optimization), keywords are also a portion of
coding that exists behind the scenes of every web page,
indicated what keywords are relevant to the subject matter
and content of that particular page.
What are
Doorway Pages?
Doorways or Doorway Pages are single HTML formatted webpages
built with the purpose of capturing traffic for a single
keyword. Often, doorway pages employ optimization techniques
tailored for performance on only one search engine and
do not contain content suitable for retaining quality
traffic or leads. These pages are often formatted solely
for search engine ranking utility and provide value only
in their ability to redirect traffic to a website's index
or similar content page.
What are
META Tags? Meta tags are part of HTML coding; the coding that is
behind every web page and document that can be viewed
in an internet or web browser. Meta tags are part of the
web documents header, indicating valuable resources to
the formatting of the document including keyword declarations,
a detailed page description.
What are
search engine themes?
Search engines are beginning to use algorithms that identify
the main themes of not just a single page that it views,
but the entire site. As a result, identifying a theme
for Search Engine Optimization, means to identify a core
set of keywords that should be in and relevant to content
on nearly every page of a website. Often, this means that
the rank of any one page can be affected by the content
that is on other pages on the site.
Who owns
the Search Engine Optimized pages?
All of the optimization work that we perform, whether
to the actual site, to a sub-domain of the site, or to
anything else, belongs entirely to the client. We realize
that some SEO companies will build doorway pages for their
clients, and when the client's contract is up, that Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
company will take the doorway pages offline, effectively
eliminating the incoming traffic and ranking. Search Pundits
does not do that.
Does
Search Pundits do all of the optimization work or does
it outsource)?
All of the search engine optimization (SEO), as well as any
other work in our contract and proposal, is done in-house
by the Search Pundits staff unless otherwise discussed
and specified. This practice helps to insure that any
work that we do for you will be of the highest quality.
We stand behind our work.
What
guarantees does Search Pundits offer?
The SEO (Search Engine Optimization) industry looses credibility every time a service
provider offers "guaranteed rankings" to its
clients. Search engine optimization is not an exact science;
application techniques and search engine formulas change
on a weekly basis, making it nearly impossible to guarantee
with 100% certainty that a SEO (Search Engine Optimization) company can obtain and maintain
X number of first page rankings.
Though our skills would allow us to
offer guaranteed rankings to our clients, we chose not to.
Often, a #10 ranking on Google for one frequently searched
keyword yields more traffic and more targeted traffic than
a dozen #1 rankings for infrequently searched keywords on
a lesser engine. Our Search engine optimization programs provide the additional
support to identify and effectively target these profit-producing
keywords.
How will you
measure Search Pundits success?
You will be able to measure the success of our optimization
campaign based on the following factors:
Generating more annual visitors
to the web sites
Driving more targeted traffic to
the web sites
Achieving higher rankings for relevant,
popular, frequently-searched term.
Delivering timely, clear, and thorough
reports
Our monthly reporting
will show your web site's ranking for list of target keywords,
a comparison of the current ranking to the previous month's
ranking, as well as our plans and strategies for each
particular search engine included in the report.
What
is Search Pundits most used Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy or method?
Search Pundits main focus is the research and application
of keywords, development and optimization of content, link
popularity building, and site wide optimization. While the
first three are self-explanatory, site wide optimization
refers to two things: the optimization of all HTML and web
page tags, insuring that the pages are search engine friendly
and will rank for their keywords, and the altering of the
web site to increase lead generation, sales, or to meet
the web site's goals.
At Search Pundits, we realize
that your company's reputation and your web site's presence
are important for business, revenue, customers, and relationships.
Search Pundits will not use any search engine optimization (SEO) method that we feel will jeopardize your web site's standing
in the search engines.
What is Search Pundits main focus
of every Search Engine Optimization (SEO) campaign? While the specific focus of our
search engine optimization campaigns depend on each client's goals,
we are dedicated to one central purpose: To increase the
visibility of our clients' websites, bringing targeted
traffic to those website through the search engines, in
turn increasing sales, conversion rates, or number of
leads through the website.
Why is link
popularity important? Link popularity is the number of external links pointing
to your web site and to its pages. This number is used
by several search engines in formulas for ranking web
pages. The use of link popularity measurements differs
among the search engines. For some, it is very important. Google, currently
one of the leading search engines on the Internet, evaluates
not only the number of external links, but also the quality
of the links that point to your site. The calculation
that Google uses is called PageRank and is based on a
number of factors, with one of the major variables being
the number of quality links pointing to your site (Google
calls these votes for your site).
How
will Search Pundits build my link popularity?
Just as with the automated search engine submission programs,
Search Pundits does not employ the use of any automated
link popularity builders. Search engines put less weight
on links that are artificially built with automated programs,
as they tend to lead to "link farms." Instead, Search
Pundits will contact web masters of sites in your market
and in related markets, and request that they link to
your site. Search Pundits will document the ongoing link
popularity building campaign and report our progress on
a monthly basis as part of your monthly ranking and traffic
reports.
What search
engines does Search Pundits focus most of the effort?
While there may be thousands of "search engines",
most of them use results from one or more of the major
search engines or directories. The search engines and
directories that account for the largest portions of Internet
traffic currently are: MSN, Yahoo, Google, AOL, Ask Jeeves,
LookSmart, InfoSpace, Netscape, and AltaVista. Other search
engines that Search Pundits focuses on are Teoma, WiseNut,
AllTheWeb, Lycos, HotBot, and the Open Directory
Project.
Will
Search Pundits optimize my competitors' sites?
Search Pundits offers exclusivity to any client for whom
this is desired or needed. We understand the complexity
and competitiveness of the business and Internet industry.
We work with our clients to achieve success and market
domination in the Internet market.
What
is included in my monthly maintenance plan?
There are slight differences in some of the monthly maintenance
plans that we offer. The maintenance plan is based on
the search engine optimization campaign. If the initial optimization
campaign is intensive, the monthly maintenance will be
too. The services included in our monthly maintenance
plans are: monthly ranking reports, industry research
and application, re-submission if necessary, link popularity
(and PageRank) building, and additional online marketing
and advertising ideas and opportunities as they arise.
Does Search
Pundits use doorway pages?
As we mentioned, Search Pundits does not pursue any strategy
that might place our client's web site, company name,
branding, or anything else at risk. The search engines
were overwhelmed with spam doorway pages that were submitted
to them and that were cluttering up their results pages.
As a result, they have started to eliminate the role of
doorway pages in their ranking formulas.
By definition, a doorway
page is merely a page that is built to rank well in the
search engines. At Search Pundits, ALL of the pages that
we build, re-create, or revamp, are done with the intent
of ranking well in the search engines for the target keyword.
There are rules
to this game though. The target keyword must be relevant
to the page in question, and the page must have content
that is optimizable for the target keywords.
How long will it take to see results Search Engine Optimization (SEO)? It will take anywhere from 3 to 5
months to reach the highest results from your search engine
optimization(SEO) campaign. That's because some search engines
can take anywhere from 1 to 3 months to include a web site
in their databases.
One of the ways that Search
Pundits counteracts this problem is the use of paid spidering
and paid submission programs, such as Yahoo, Lycos and etc.
While we are waiting for the search engines to index a web
site, we sometimes suggest that use of these paid programs.
